The opening session of Bio4Climate’s flagship mini-conference series, Protect & Restore Ecosystems to Cool the Planet, will take place this morning from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM ET—and you’re invited.
This series brings together scientists, restoration practitioners, and advocates to share their cutting-edge research, deep field experience, and a clear-eyed view of both the urgency and the extraordinary power of ecological protection and restoration to cool the planet.
This morning, Dr. Anastassia Makarieva and Rob de Laet will discuss The Power of Forests & Water: Creating Rain and the Global Circulation of Moisture. You’ll gain a deeper understanding of how the biotic pump within our forests sustains water security for hundreds of millions of people across entire continents and what you can do to protect existing forests in critical regions around the world. You’ll also come away knowing how the Amazon Rainforest functions as a key planetary thermostat, discover the accelerating risk of Amazon dieback, and learn how you can support strategic forest restoration efforts to avert hydrological collapse.
This series is free and open to all. The recordings will be shared with everyone who registers.

Soil to Sky – Cool Your City Challenge
Comes to Cambridge, Massachusetts and Hyderabad, India
This Earth Week is the international launch of our Soil to Sky education program in Cambridge, Massachusetts and Hyderabad, India. Our India program is adapted by Dr. Poulomi Chakravarty to host a three-day event series – Soil to Sky: Cool Your City Challenge drawing children from grades 1-10 from Hyderabad, India. The Cambridge program will take place at the East End House over six weeks culminating in a field trip to the Danehy Miyawaki Forest. The Soil to Sky: grade school curriculum was developed in part with funding from the Sacred Heart Charitable Fund.
