Statement on the Passing of Bio4Climate Founder Adam Sacks

February 11, 2026 — Adam David Sacks, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Biodiversity for a Livable Climate (Bio4Climate) until his 2023 retirement, passed away on February 1, 2026. In the latter part of his career, he was dedicated to the regeneration of biodiversity and the restoration of a livable planet. The entire Bio4Climate community joins Adam’s family and friends in mourning the loss of this forward-thinking climate leader who used his diverse career across education, holistic medicine, technology, politics, and advocacy to understand how systems work together to create complete solutions.
Adam’s vision and ethic centered the living world in his thinking as he challenged siloed and incomplete views of the climate crisis. The result was the creation of Biodiversity for a Livable Climate, a science-based nonprofit whose work integrates research with lived experience to advance the understanding that nature itself is the foundation of climate solutions. Adam’s friends and family will remember his playfulness, passions, intellect, dark humor, and endless puns, and can take comfort in knowing that his legacy will endure through Bio4Climate. We honor Adam by carrying forward his boldness of putting nature first as a holistic climate solution; his intellectual rigor to explore global studies and real-world examples to uncover the missing pieces of the climate story that will open the door to deeper understanding; and his steadfast commitment to keeping his vision alive, no matter the challenge. Biodiversity for a Livable Climate reaffirms its commitment to Adam’s vision and ethic and dedicates itself to advocating for the regeneration of biodiversity to sustain a livable planet for generations to come. We encourage you to join in our mission and support our work to ensure Adam’s legacy lives on.
