A study of Ecuador’s Amazon found that Indigenous territories without formal conservation agreements maintained forest conditions comparably to government-protected areas — in fact, these Indigenous-managed lands showed the greatest proportion of long-term improvement in vegetation greenness. The findings support Bio4Climate’s commitment to Indigenous rights and ways of life: conservation does not mean exclusion.
