Woonasquatucket Watershed Community Quilt

Woonasquatucket Watershed Community Quilt

Melissa Guillet of 15 Minute Field Trips from Jim’s Symbiosis Team shared this beautiful quilt.

Melissa shares: “We finally finished our Woonasquatucket Watershed Community Quilt, created by 50 artists and community members to celebrate the flora, fauna, and fungi of the watershed. At Pechakucha in July, my 4 interns presented about our industrial past and current clean up efforts, I presented about 500 years of natural history, and Layla Farahbakhsh from WRWC presented about bird rehabilitation at the Congress of the Birds.”

The quilt will now go on tour!

And a second community quilt is already beginning. Join Melissa for plant-based fabric dyeing on October 6, 6–7:30 PM at North Providence Union Free Library, or October 7 at East Smithfield Library—both within Rhode Island’s Woonasquatucket Watershed.
