Every handful of soil and every fluttering moth tells the same story: life is connected. Bio4Climate was delighted to co-host the third annual Cambridge Moth Ball on July 22 at Kingsley Park, Fresh Pond Reservation, alongside the Boston Birding Festival. Executive Director Beck Mordini, Retired Associate Director Paula Phipps, Futurist and Restoration Ecologist Jim Laurie, and IT Director John Minkle welcomed an enthusiastic crowd of children, families, and longtime Cambridge residents to the Bio4Climate table.
Our living-soil display drew people in to discover the extraordinary life beneath seemingly quiet soil, while caterpillars and Jim’s collection of ecological books sparked conversations about moths, pollination, food webs, and the connections among all living systems. It was especially meaningful to see young people and elders gathered around the table, sharing curiosity, stories, and knowledge in a joyful intergenerational celebration of biodiversity.
