This program includes finding the best fit trees in my area, supporting the idea of natural selection. This allows volunteers to research and learn more about the trees that succeed in their environment the best. Some factors that affect these changes are the weather, soil, biome, animals/organisms, waste and community engagement. Lastly, we would plant the trees that are well sought and make weekly checkups to make sure that the trees are thriving.

My project involves adding aspects of environmentalism to primary and secondary schools in Slovakia. This will be done through various projects and activities that will vary in complexity depending on the age of students. This project will consist of setting up an outdoor space where classes are allocated a planting spot to grow herbs and plants, learning about ecosystems whilst being taught responsibility over the planet and things they are growing. Another aspect of this extended curriculum will be the interconnection of local ENGOs, farmers, local produce shops etc., and young people. This will be practiced by guest speakers, such as representatives of ENGOs attending secondary schools, giving presentations about the work they do and allowing the students to ask questions. The involvement of local ENGOs and local produce advocates will act as a tool to inspire young people and discover the beauty of Slovakia and its nature. This partnership can act as a advantage for the students in the future as they will be encouraged to volunteer in such spheres where this initial contact has already been made.

Tree planting project and environmental education. The goal of the two projects is to firstly, to train pupils about the importance of protecting the environment (biodiversity), to inculcate them the eco-citizen behaviors, but to also sensitize the local communities about the reality of climate change. Secondly, to plant more fruit trees, in order to fight against the salinization, wind erosion, desertification and will enable people to eat fruit, which will reduce famine etc. Our Youth organization named (Green Actions Sénégal) will carry the project. We are based in Sénégal, and more than 100 members students and pupils, we have two cells in Dakar and Ziguinchor.

Education in a school climate hub (SACH) with the goal of highlighting how and why human activities like agriculture, irregular forests harvesting, and others affect climate. The project aims to visit more than 12 schools – 4 primary schools, 4 secondary schools, and 4 advanced secondary schools. I expect to partner with teachers, local governments, authorities, and community members.

Kolawale Hammed

I am involved in a personal eco restoration project where I plant crops and trees in my community. I have plans to propose doing this enmasse. I will detail my plans below –

Sensitization of my immediate community on the importance of maintaining the ecosystem balance by several eco restoration practices making reference to the “BIO4CLIMATE” restoration project in mexico which transformed the place in two years. Lokoja is an Industrial City with a lot of history. It was home to Lord Lugard, the Colonial Governor of Nigeria prior to the Independence in 1960. Due to the uncontrollable industrial activities, the climate here in Lokoja is unpredictable and bad with flooding and fogging being recorded annually. Bringing the eco restoration project here will go a very long way in saving this monumental city. The restoration project will include-

  1. Planting of trees cross the community
  2. Reduction of open combustion of waste by employing the use of waste management system
  3. The promotion of the use of the new CNG power which will lead to the reduction of car exhausts.

Bosco is currently working on a personal level as an African Climate Action Advocate using social media and article writing calling upon Africa and global leaders to agree and commit to the urgent need to achieve the Paris Agreement on addressing the global greenhouse gas emissions to limit global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels and operationalize a loss and damage fund to support the losses arising from droughts, rising seas, floods and other disasters attributed to climate change, particularly in the most vulnerable and developing countries with adverse impacts of the climate crisis as agreed during COP 27 Sharm el-Sheikh Implementation Plan.

He is spearheading meaningful youth engagement in addressing, mitigating and adapting climate change impacts and biodiversity conservation in Migori County, Kenya and influencing policy and programmatic reforms.
